★★★★☆“こんにちはまなさん! I am "learning" Japanese however I am not learning-learning Japanese: I cannot invest in a tutor nor classes however my adhoc DIY efforts (YouTube, music, etc) is proving entertaining yet ephemeral, fleeting... fading. I need something more solid. And while there are apps and Ankis... I still fall back to bookish ways. Getting a hold a solid Japanese books is random. Got a good'n t'other day locally - a 1961 book giving me access to the 1875 main kanji. すごい! Buuuuuttt I knew I needed more. So, on this cold, windy June (2025), I ventured up the road from Geelong to Kew to here. After a cursory non-bookish search via Google of course. I like a road-trip and to be frank, Geelong to Kew is a milk run (even with a longish traffic jam around the zoo section). Man, I could have bought soooo, sooo many books. Japanese by the bagful. Français, trois, quatre, cinq, quatre vangt sept!! I'm only glad I didn't see any Россия or Gaelic... The Mandarin whispered temptations nearby yet I resisted! I need to focus on my Japanese, by golly! I ended up with a grammar dictionary and a primer. An entrée of books. As I said to the ever-helpful ladies, I will be back. じゃあね。”

★★★★★“Came in because of the Global Book Crawl, expecting to collect a stamp and move on, but had a fantastic experience - and found a lovely resource to support my duolingo Russian. Staff are very friendly and helpful without being pushy. They seem to legitimately care about supporting people to learn at their own pace. Really lovely experience - I'll be back!”

★★★★★“Very helpful staff; upon entering the store, I was greeted with a welcome and offered assistance. They were more than happy to help look for the books I was after in the warehouse, and offer to order the ones that wasn’t available.”
