  “I took my cat here around two months ago because he was straining to pee, constantly going in and out of the litter box and only producing a few drops of urine at a time. The vet examined him and told me he wasn’t blocked, advised me that if he hasnt peed by Sunday (this was on a friday) to take him to the emergency vet, and sent us home with medication. That was the entirety of the consultation and information shared with me. A few hours later I trusted my gut that something was still not right, and went to the emergency vet. They found his bladder was HUGE, and he was in fact fully blocked. He needed to be sedated and catheterized, and they said the blockage was so severe it was almost impossible to pass the catheter. When i asked, they said it was unlikely he became that blocked within the 8 hours of visiting balwyn veterinary surgery, and the emergency vet. As a first-time cat owner, I didn’t know how dangerous urinary blockages are (cats can have their kidneys impacted within 24–48 hours, causing kidney failure and death). If I had followed the advice I was given and waited, my cat likely wouldn’t have had the same outcome, of surviving. I understand everyone makes mistakes, but what concerns me most is that I wasn’t told how urgent and life-threatening blockages can be, or what warning signs to look out for. That information could save an animal’s life, and I think it was a serious omission. I don’t usually write reviews, but given that its likely my cat would have died if I had followed this advice, I feel it’s important to share my experience.”
