“I recently did a joint exhibition through Artemisia. Firstly Ash and Bella were lovely to deal with . Both experienced in their fields and obviously are running a business but really want to get local artists out there. They made the whole process easy and stress free. You are given clear information and what they need from you. Like most things, nothing is for free and sometimes in order to follow your dream you have to invest in yourself. Yes, there is a fee for displaying here and a conservative commission percentage if you sell a piece. But for me,just a home artist, being able to have an exhibition, be put in with other local artists and get experience of the process is very much worth it. Some in the art selling business dont like this style of exhibiting due to fees up front from the artists and it may not be seen as supporting local artists but without a gallery and space like this, its not easy to get yourself out there. My advise to new artists or yet to be seen artists , this can be a good start if you work in with the gallery too. Use the opening night, get people to attend, meet the other artists,make a few connections. Go there on the weekend and give some of your time to meeting potential buyers or same minded people. I have learnt alot from this experience and even tho it came and went quickly, it did give me perspective on my path and what I really want to do. Its your journey and their should be no rules in art.”
