You have to reset your expectations a bit when you visit a north Vietnamese restaurant. They are a bit different. Imagine if the South Vietnamese had won the war - we would have nothing, and Moscow would have North Vietnamese restaurants. So it's a tragedy for the South, but we benefited from decades of South Vietnamese migration. South Vietnamese pho is light and herbal. Northern Vietnamese pho, of which this is a great example, is beefier, more assertive, more peppery. There are no beansprouts (so don't ask for them), no Thai basil, and no coriander. In fact the flavour is so rich that they recommend that you lighten it with garlic vinegar. We tried the Pho Dac Biet (special beef noodles) and fried beef noodles. Both were excellent. The fried beef noodle was especially assertive and bold. The flavours are very big here, not the delicate subtle broth you find in most Southern Viet restaurants. It's a different experience, one that is rare in Melbourne. Just don't go expecting South Vietnamese food.

Basic menu makes easy ordering keep an eye out for weekly specials that makes it worth being a regular. Been here many times since opening and never disappoints. No corkage and then there’s a bottle shop just across the road.

An exceptional spot! The food here is absolutely delicious, and you get incredible value for the price. The customer service is outstanding—very friendly and attentive from the moment you step up to the counter. I also really loved the atmosphere; the dining area is impeccably clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated with traditional Vietnamese artwork and warm lighting. It’s the perfect vibe for a great meal. I will definitely be coming back!

Dynamite. This place is fantastic! The lady that attended to us was polite and attentive, listened to our dietary needs (FODMAP) and helped pick the right dishes for us. The atmosphere was really nice. A cozy joint with some chill music playing quietly playing so we could still enjoy conversation. The food itself was delicious. We had the grilled chicken bites, vege spring rolls, rare beef noodle soup and the tofu and vege spring roll vermicelli. All was amazing, especially the rare beef noodle soup — definitely ordering that again. Thanks for the hospitality! We'll see you again 😁
