★★★★★“Alamein railway station serves as a nice and quiet terminus for the Alamein railway line. It runs a train to Camberwell railway station where it connects back with the Belgrave + Lilydale lines. Alamein railway station is actually on the rail corridor of the old outer circle line, which ran a train past the end of the modern day Alamein railway station, all the way to Oakleigh. Today the old rail corridor has been turned into a nice 15 minute walking trail to East Malvern Station on the Glen Waverley line. The facilities at Alamein railway station are not the best in the world but considering how quiet it is, the small platform shelter and facilities do the job. Alamein is a great railway station on the Victorian rail network and often very peaceful and quiet.”

To get to Flinders Street outside of peak hour you need to get off at Camberwell for a connecting service as the Alamein line mostly runs as a shuttle service to and from Camberwell.”
